Dr. Stephen Benold

Stephen founded Benold Financial Planning in 2005 to provide clients a place to receive objective, goal-based investment advice. Above all else, our guiding principle is to place the goals of all current and future clients at the forefront of every financial decision. Stephen assists clients in developing long-term investment strategies to help solve financial issues and position each client to achieve all that is important to them.

Stephen was not always a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. He followed in the footsteps of his father and became a family physician. After 30 years as a family physician, he decided to pursue his other passion…financial planning.

Stephen graduated from Rice University, where he double majored in Economics and Biology. During this time, he opened his first brokerage account. At Rice, he invested money for other students and paid them all the profits from the trades just for practice. This is where his true passion for finance developed. At age 58, he was accredited with the CFP® certification and started building his clientele.

Stephen is a CFP® and a Registered Investment Advisor. He is an active member of First United Methodist Church Georgetown where he sings in the choir and has taught a Sunday School class since 1988. He served as Medical Director of Williamson County EMS for 32 years, where he taught the continuing medical education course for the paramedics. His community involvement continues with being a long-term member of Rotary Club and serving on the board of multiple community organizations. He keeps his medical license active and sees a few patients at a government facility each week.

Stephen and his wife, Nancy have been married since 1977. They reside in Georgetown, TX with their schnauzer, Lotti. They have 2 adult children and 5 grandchildren.

To unwind, he enjoys gardening, reading and playing on his Bobcat at his family’s ranch.
